Description:A presentation by Charley Downey, General Manager of First Stop Safety covering why the Housing Act 2004 has resulted in the need for all Landlords and Letting Agents to carry out regular testing of portable appliances supplied in properties eg. TV's, microwave ovens, kettles, toasters etc etc.
The presentation will cover the following:
- Why PAT test?
- How frequently should PAT testing be carried out?
- The benefits of setting up your own regime, as opposed to using an electrical contractor, in terms of saving money and convenience
- What is a PAT test and how is it carried out?
- Legal responsibilities for landlords and letting agents
- The recent change in legislation concerning 'burden of proof'.
Insurance requirements for electrical safety - Fire regulations and the common causes of fire
- Microwave leakage detection
- Question and answer session
- Hands on' demonstration, where delegates would be able to 'have a go' themselves
