Since the introduction of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme in 2007, all landlords who take a deposit from their tenants are required by law to either pass this money to the Government approved Custodian or insure the deposit on behalf of the tenants.
Since the introduction of TDS, all tenants now have greater support available (including legal) should they wish to dispute a deposit deduction made by a landlord or agent. Therefore it is essential that all landlords and agents understand how to create an accurate Inventory that protects both the landlord and the tenant should a dispute arise.
